Trends in Information Security and Countermeasures in Japan

Recently, it has been conspicuous that more incidents on the internet have been connected to the monetary damage. Seeing these incident cases, it can be seen that each threat such as computer virus and malware, bot, unauthorized access, vulnerability, web page falsification and phishing is involved and entangled each other in these troubles.

In my presentation I will introduce not only the statistic of cybercrime, computer virus and unauthorized access in Japan , but also countermeasures against these threats, along with the aspect of policy, strategy and legislation.

Ms. Kanno has been a researcher of the IT Security Center (ISEC) at the Information-technology Promotion Agency , Japan (IPA) since 2003. Her responsibilities cover both technical and management aspects of studies on anti-computer viruses, network security and IT security awareness.
