Welcome to the 8th Annual AVAR International Conference in Tianjin, China 2005.

I would like to express my gratitude to every sponsor and supporting organization who has worked for this conference, especially for AVAR2005 Organizing Committee.

AVAR now comprise many information security experts, governmental agencies and corporations from 9 Asia-Pacific countries as well as security experts from other regions including USA and Europe. Annual AVAR International Conference is now well known over the world.

Technological advances for speed and expansiveness of the network in Asia-Pacific have been amazing. On the other hand, along with the rapid progress of network technology, number of cyber crimes is increasing rapidly and becoming sophisticated. This conference will cover the newest technologies and countermeasures on information security.

Having AVAR conference in China is the great opportunity for not only AVAR itself but also delegates from all over the world. Also I am sure that this conference will provide opportunities to Chinese delegates to meet and hear from top security experts. First I sincerely welcome the information security specialists from all over the world to Tianjin Economic - Technological Development Area, the most active area in China 's economic development, to attend the 8th Annual AVAR International Conference in 2005.

With the development of internet, computer viruses have become public internet threat. With its ever-increasing threat, it has gradually become a tool and measure of cyber crimes. In this conference, we are going to conduct discussions focused on the subject “Wired to Wireless, Hacker to Cyber-criminal”. I hope the guests present at the conference can freely voice their opinions, give their knowledge and plan measures for the development of global cyber security.
